Jazz in the Garden - June 30-August 24, 2018
~ Every Friday until August 24th, fellow Jazzbos and music lovers can congregate in the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden, for some smooth sounds and good vibes. Various musicians gather in the idyllic park to showcase their stuff, providing an excellent soundtrack to observe the art and summer sun!

Smithsonian Sleepovers -  Aug. 10, 18, 24 & 31, 2018
~ Kids can live the dream, and slumber beneath the T-Rex skeleton, the roaring wooly mammoths, or the Space Shuttle of the Smithsonian Museums! Have a sleepover steeped in history with your whole family. Activities, crafts, puzzles, and even an Imax viewing make this an experience not to be missed!
Ages 8-12 are permitted, and there must be at least one adult present for every three children in any group that registers. No siblings younger than 8 are allowed, and no adults are allowed without children.

Citi Open Tennis Classic 2018 in Washington DC - July 28-August 5, 2018
~ Recognized by the ATP World Tour as one of the top 20 tournaments worldwide, the Citi Open Tennis Classic is a competition that benefits the WTEF (Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) while providing edge of your seat competition!

2018 Wolf Trap's Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods - Various Times  
~ Theater in the Woods is an amazing program organized by Wolf Trap National Park that showcases one family friendly performance per day. Enjoy a lovely day outside while experiencing kid-friendly entertainment. Picnics encouraged!

Redskins Training Camp 2015 (Schedule, Map, Directions) - July 26-August 14, 2018
~ Fans are invited to watch the Washington Redskins gear up for their upcoming season. Opportunities for autographs and interactions with your favorite players are available!

Where to Next Race - August 4, 2018
~ There is NO better way to get to know the city, and experience the thrill of adventure while doing so! This awesome event invites participants to race their way through the District, while scavenging for clues in an attempt to solve the mystery! Includes 3+ iconic DC Lanmarks, 2 local spots, and one mystery location. This is not to be missed, and is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with Washington DC!

International Champions Cup - August 4, 2018
~ For those of you mourning the end of the World Cup - fear not! One of soccer’s most popular international tournaments touches down at FedExField in Landover, Md on August 4th. Still unannounced as to whether Cristiano Ronaldo will appear, but the internet is abuzz with anticipation!

Summer Spirit Festival - August 4, 2018
~ Soak up the Summer vibes at this one of a kind festival featuring headliners like  Erykah Badu, Nas, Method Man & Redman and Bilal, The Roots, and so much more!

Truckeroo - August 4, 2018
~ The best food trucks in the District gather in The Bullpen to showcase their hottest creations! Located near Yards Park, the schmogesmord of delicious food is flanked by games, live music, entertainment and so much more.

A Garden Party: From Africa to Asia - August 10, 2018
~ Enjoy a walking art gallery nestled between the National Museum of African Art, and the Sackler Gallery. Vendors will be serving African and Asian inspired cuisine, and a cash bar allows for a refined evening of the arts and culture. Wear your “global garden” best!

Otakan - August 10-12, 2018
~ Attention Cosplayers, Gamers, and Film buffs! This amazing convention is a feast for the eyes. Attendees can dress in their best cosplay, play video games, screen films, and enjoy celebrity appearances at this three day celebration of Asian Pop Culture.

Summer Restaurant Week - August 13-19, 2018
~ Over 100 participating restaurants offer pre fixe meals for amazing prices and deals that only happen once a year!

Comcast Outdoor Film Festival - August 23-26, 2018
~ Head to the Strathmore in Bethesda to enjoy outdoor cinema at the family friendly event; Coco, Black Panther, The Lion King or Wonder Woman (or all four, since attending is free) are scheduled, amidst carnival games, inflatables and food!

17th St Festival - August 25, 2018
~ If you haven’t explored 17th St, make sure to put it on your list! Already teeming with DC’s best restaurants, the neighborhood comes together to celebrate diversity and developing arts of the area. Overwhelm the senses with food, drinks, entertainment and arts (and Kids Zone for the little ones)!

Maryland Renaissance Festival 2018 - August 25/26, 2018
~ Huzzah! Step back in time and celebrate the 16th century! Perfect for families, history buffs or simply your curious traveler. Enjoy jousting, fire eating, magic shows and food for days! (Not specific to its time period)

DC Beer Week - August 19-26, 2018
~ Participating breweries showcase their newest, rarest brews and include menus and pairings as well as panel discussions!

Washington Nationals
~ Experience the American tradition at Nationals Stadium - peanuts, crackerjacks and more!

Smithsonian National Zoo
~ There’s no better time to visit the famous Smithsonian National Zoo - enjoy the weather, see the pandas, and take part in one of their events going on during the month of May.

Rock Creek Park 
~ Horseback riding, trails for hiking, biking, and exploring provide a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city! 

Cinema in Style - Outdoor movies in 2018

Outdoor concerts 2018
~ DC in the summertime is not complete without enjoying some live music outside! Find various artists and genres and enjoy at Yards Park, The Washington Harbour, Fort Reno, and Fort Dupont Park!

DC Cruises 
~ Spend the day on the water and enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Often including meals and entertainment, there is no better way to view the Potomac, and stay cool in the summer!

Boat Rental on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay
~ Experience a day like in nature while paddling in the shadow of the monuments. Thompson Boat Center and Key Bridge Boathouse offer hourly rentals of kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards!

Summer Theater 2018
~ Take in a show and enjoy DC’s wonderful theaters all over the city - see link for scheduled performances.
