Our beautifully decorated English basement apartment in a newly renovated row home right in the heart of DC's trendy Shaw neighborhood. With your own private entrance the apartment boasts beautiful and stylish design, absolute comfort in brand new furnishings and convenient access to all the District has to offer!

The Space 
With a score of 95 this is a walkers paradise! Leave your car at the apartment and take a 3 minute stroll to the Shaw / Howard University Metro station (green/yellow lines). DC's metro service can transport guests to the enire city; major sights, hubs of industry, amazing neighborhoods with their award winning restaurants all at your fingertips.

We can comfortably sleep 2 guests in the queen sized bed in the living room, and 2 in the queen sized sofa bed in the living room. 

There is a TV with smart streaming functions and Youtube TV, allowing guests who can't sleep without their favorite shows the opportunity to stream to their heart's content.

If you are here on business, get comfortable at our workspace, a great spot to get some work done.

The kitchen is complete with all essentials and new appliances; the perfect space to start the day with a hearty, healthy breakfast before heading out to enjoy all the city has to offer.

Overlook the living space while cooking or dining - perfect for unwinding after sightseeing, minding little ones, or brainstorming the next day's adventures. Slink off to the lovely bedroom retreat; folks can shut the day away and catch some zzz’s! 

Guest Access
As with many homes in DC the upper level is rented out full time. You will have your own entrance and private access however please be mindful of that fact and that noise can travel.

The Neighborhood
The location is the epicenter of DC’s music and dining scene, always the place to be seen in D.C!
Walk around the corner and catch a wide range of music shows at the historic Howard Theater, or a few more blocks to the famous “9:30 Club”. A short distance in either direction takes you to the Right Proper Brew Pub, the Shaw Tavern, Bistro Boehm, Shaw Library and a bucketful of coffee houses, fitness centers and “pop-up” eating and entertainment venues. A few more blocks brings you the U Street Corridor and 14th St, just minutes away on foot from all the fabulous restaurants bars and shopping that this hip neighborhood has to offer. Grocery stores, pharmacy and every other essential are just a few minutes’ walk from the home.

Getting Around 
We are a 3 minute stroll on foot from the Shaw/Howard Metro Stop and about 10 minutes from the U Street/African American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Station. 
Nearby buses, Capital Bikeshare’s, and Uber’s surround the area - 95% Walk Score!
Shaw, centered around U Street NW, has been the hub for African-American social, cultural, and economic progress in the nation's capital! U St is famous for it’s lively music scene and its smorgasbord of dining options. Foodies will have no shortage of choices; from Ben’s Chili Bowl to homemade ice cream at the Ice Cream Jubilee, there’s a little something for everyone.
The neighborhood is very safe - experience the nightlife of U St, and leisurely stroll back to your apartment for some welcome respite. 

Prefer something more active? Most central Washington DC features are all within walking. Several Capital Bikeshares are located short strolls away; they offer bike rentals by the hour at excellent rates - a truly awesome way to explore the city, the Potomac Tow Path, the Anacostia Waterfront, and nearby Virginia and Maryland!  .

- Walter E. Washington Convention center is 3/4 mile walking or just 1 stop on the metro. 
- Regan airport is 20 minutes away on the yellow line. 
- The National Mall/Smithsonian is a mile walk or 5 minutes on the metro.

House Rules
~ Strict NO party policy. Please note that smoking of any kind and drug use in or around the property is strictly prohibited (this includes outside spaces). If we do find evidence of illegal substances or marijuana use, the reservation will be automatically canceled with no refund. 
~ Strict NO pets policy. 
~ We insist that for group bookings renters are above the age of 25, unless agreed prior to making your reservation. (Families with children under 25 are very welcome). Due to fire code and insurance requirements the property has a maximum occupancy and additional guests must have our advance approval.
~ We may ask for additional proof of identity / address (passport / drivers license etc) and reason for stay such as work contracts or permits.
~ We may ask for an additional security deposit for larger groups or longer stays. 
~ Due to our tight cleaning schedules, charges apply for unannounced late check-outs. 
~ Exterior may be monitored by exterior cameras, there are no cameras indoors. 
~The neighborhood is a strong community and everyone looks out for each other, we ask that folks please be mindful of noise that could disturb in the early mornings and late at night. 
~ While luggage is expected, we strictly prohibit large items (including, but not limited to, bicycles and exercise equipment) being brought into the unit without prior approval.
~ If your booking spans 2 weeks or longer, we may require a “deep clean” following your check-out. 
~ Prior to you checking in, the property has been inspected to confirm there are no damages and everything is in working order.  If upon checking in, you discover something broken or not working, please let us know immediately.
~ Please be sure that ALL of the windows and doors are closed if the HVAC is running.
~ Please do NOT flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilets.
~PARKING IMPORTANT! : If you need parking, you will need to request parking IN ADVANCE of your arrival, by signing up for the DC's digital parking pass program. We will provide a unique property code that allows you to request a Visitor’s Parking Pass via the portal. You will then need to print the digital pass (we cannot print passes for you) and place it on your car dashboard when you need to park. If this is not done in advance of your stay, we cannot be held responsible. If you can't print before your stay please let us know if you would like us to share nearby printing resources.
